This is the core of Geophysical Quality Services business. A suit of QC/QA tools have been produced that are based on those seen in use by the major geophysical contractors. Ideas that have been seen to have merit have been assessed and tools and techniques formulated to provide similar or improved functionality. Some of the tools in use are independently derived.

A QC/QA routine is established for each survey dependent on survey type, parameters and equipment status.

Geophysical Quality Services does not subscribe to the modern trend for external QC to rely on the contractor to apply all the quality checks. All too often contractor QC departments are production orientated or are affected by stretched resources. Nor does Geophysical Quality Services believe that the production and inspection of independent QC data and reports to be excessively burdensome despite the large data volumes produced during surveys in the modern era.

GQS produces comprehensive QC data sets and reports for each line and simultaneously adds relevant data to QC tools that are more attuned to survey wide analysis. Geophysical Quality Services independently  examines the data  that is either supplied by the contractor or read directly from tape or disk.

Each sequence is subjected to a minimum set of checks and examinations that are recorded to the survey database. The QC trail is thereby auditable and may be published if so required.

Where acceptance of the data is not straight forward or where an anomaly of some kind exists, further and more detailed examination takes place. This inevitably leads to discussion with the contractor and a route forward determined.
